The teaser of Bahubali fame Prabhas Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan starrer film Adipurush has been released recently. With the release of the teaser, it has become a part of the headlines. Saif Ali Khan has been seen in the look of Ravana in the film. Saif’s look is being heavily criticized. His look is being compared to Khilji.
The controversy over this movie is increasing continuously. Since the launch of the teaser of the film in Ayodhya, all kinds of reactions are coming to it.
Now Bhishma Pitamah of Mahabharata i.e. Mukesh Khanna has also given his reaction to the teaser of the film. Furious at the filmmakers, he said that from where this film is looking like Ramayana. He has given it a completely Mughal form.
Looks Like a Mughaliya Period Movie
Sharing the video on his YouTube channel, Mukesh Khanna said,
“The ones playing the role of Ram in the film neither look like Ram nor do Hanuman look like Hanuman. Ravana also does not look like Ravana. Where is this Ramayana coming from? This is looking like a movie from the Mughal period. It is clear that you are making fun of our religion. At a time when films are being boycotted everywhere, you are again creating new controversy. In such a situation people will get angry at you. Then you will also defend it by calling it freedom of expression.”
Lashing Out at the Filmmakers
Mukesh Khanna Said,
“Every Indian has a special place for Ramayana. People believe that Lord Shri Ram did not keep a moustache. Hanuman was also without a beard and moustache. Ravana only had a big moustache. But in this film (Adipurush Movie), Bahubali actor played the character of Ram and Saif Ali Khan played the character of Ravana. You may be investing 450 crores in this film, but if people lose their trust in you then you will be nowhere. Lashing out at the filmmakers, the actor said, ‘Now you will say that this is a teaser. If this is the envelope above, then how will the film be.”
If you have the courage, then show it by saying about your religion
Furious at Saif Ali Khan, Mukesh Khanna said,
“Saif Ali Khan said before playing the role of Ravana that I want to give it a form of humour. I had given my reaction to this at that time. You talk about Ramayana but in reality, you want to take advantage of Ramayana. Who are you to make fun of our religion? If you have the courage, then show it by saying something about your religion.”
A film cannot be made only with special effects
The actor warned the film-makers and said,
“In this film (Adipurush Movie), Ram is shown with a moustache. Ravana looks like Khilji. If I tell the truth, it has been given a Mughal form. Where is the Ramayana? Are you kidding? I don’t know how much people will accept it. Ramayana and Mahabharata cannot be made only with special effects. You cannot call it Ramayana by giving the look of Hollywood’s Avatar film. If you try to do this, people will automatically react.”
BJP Also Slams Om Raut’s Adipurush
Actress and BJP spokesperson Malavika Avinash has slammed filmmaker Om Raut for ‘misrepresentation’ of Ramayana and the way he has portrayed the character of Raavana in the teaser of his upcoming period epic Adipurush.
Speaking to ANI, about the same, Malavika expressed her anger and said,
“I am saddened by the fact that the director let alone researching the Valmiki`s Ramayana, Kamba Ramayana or Tulsidasa`s Ramayana, or the umpteen numbers of interpretations of Ramayana that are available across board as far as Thailand where they do beautiful performances of the Ramayana. The least he could have done is gone back and researched our own films; there are so many Kannada films, Telugu films, Tamil films, which show how Raavana looked.”
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra also expressed his anger and as per PTI, he said,
“I have seen the trailer of Adipurush. There are objectionable scenes in it. The dresses and look of Hindu deities as seen in the trailer were not acceptable. Hanuman ji is shown wearing leather, whereas the description (in the scriptures) of the deity’s costume is different… These are scenes that hurt religious sentiments. I am writing a letter to Om Raut to remove all such scenes from the film. If not removed, we will consider legal action.”
